Botox is the most reputable neurotoxin available in the market today. As the oldest neurotoxin, its use and effectiveness have been confirmed by several studies. Botox contains additive proteins, which protect botulinum molecules from external influences. However, it has been suggested that the protective proteins may render the botox injection less effective since some people may create antibodies against these proteins.
Dysport uses smaller protein molecules to induce muscle relaxation. These smaller proteins are less likely to be broken down by antibodies. Some people have experienced faster results with Dysport, noticing a reduction in only 2-3 days while Botox can take up to a week to appear.
The effects of all neurotoxins should last 3-4 months, sometimes longer. As we age, the duration tends to be shorter. There is a period of time that the injection takes to wear off and the body to regain the ability to trigger muscle movement. Depending on the area being treated, there are multiple injection sites. The eyes usually 3-4 each; the forehead can be 3-9; the area between the eyebrows 5-7.
