Also known as Botox, Jeauveau, Dysport, or Xeomin, neurotoxins are effective in providing temporary nerve receptor blockage in the muscles. The blockage helps reduce the appearance of both fine lines and wrinkles.

Neurotoxins have also been used in the treatment of muscle spasms, over-reactive bladder, excessive sweating, and muscle stiffness. The cosmetic treatment is ranked among the top non-surgical procedures for more than 20 years straight.

The treatment involves several tiny injections into the target area to relax the facial muscles. Neurotoxins have been confirmed to prevent the formation of deeper wrinkles.

OUR NEUROTOXIN Options

BOTOX — The most popular neurotoxin on the market. The oldest and most extensively studied, it contains protein additives that shield botulinum molecules from external influences.

DYSPORT — Uses smaller protein molecules not easily broken by antibodies. Results appear faster — within 2 to 3 days — unlike Botox which may take a week.

XEOMIN — Unique in that it lacks protein additives entirely, making it less likely that patients develop antibodies and become resistant to treatment over time.

NEUROTOXINS FAQ'S

After the treatment, the results should remain present for 3 to 4 months, and may last longer on some people. However, the duration shortens as we age. The results are temporary because the injections wear off over time, causing the body to regain its muscle movement. For the best results, you should establish a neurotoxin regimen.

The duration depends on the treatment. For Botox, the results will be seen within 5 to 10 days. For Xeomin, you may see results after 4 to 7 days. With Dysport, you will notice the results within 24 hours.

Depending on the areas being treated, the number of injections varies. For the eyes, you will require 3 to 4 injections per eye. The forehead is usually covered with 3 to 9 injections.
